Default Brain child magazine?

does anyone receive it and what are your thoughts on it? I'd love to find a discount price on it. :)

TIA.

I've only read on issue that I came across at the organic co-op, but I loved it. The articles were intriguing (sp?), and it actually talked about new ideas and topics. I usually subscribe to two or three baby/parenting mags at a time, and it sometimes feels like they just recycle articles every few months. I loved Brain Child.

Many people on the boards like this magazine, and have organized group orders for it. That takes $2 or $4 off the annual subscriptions price. I think you only need 4 orders to qualify for the discount.

I liked the magazine, but did not love it. The articles are interesting but long, and sometimes they spend a lot of time talking about writing or books; I think it is somewhat of a literary magazine. Or maybe that was just one issue about books about motherhood which gave me that impression. Anyway, I saved the issues which I did not read because I would like to read them later, but at the same time, I did not renew my subscription.

Caly
Funny that we posted around the same time last night on the same topic...great minds think alike?! Are you going to get a subscription? I wonder if the local library would have a copy so you could check it out in person before ordering?

Hey there. :) I think I might be interested in getting it. We actually have story hour today so I'm going to see if my library has it. I wonder if we could get a few more people interested. I have no idea how expensive it is.

Default RE: Brain child magazine?

I subscribed earlier this year when there was a coop here for it. The first issue I got was *really* depressing (there were several articles about kids with terminal illnesses, parents coping with loss, etc), and I couldn't read it all. The 2 issues I've gotten since were much better, and there was a letter to the editor about the depressing tone of the earlier issue (to which they apologized). Brain, Child is not the typical parenting magazine, but it has a lot of insightful articles about raising kids and being a parent. I highly recommend it.
