Default OT- Holiday decorating for not a lot of money

I was decorating tonight and thought I would pass on some of my ideas...and look for some more ideas. To be honest, I did get most of these ideas from TV, magazines or other places.

-Wrap all framed pictures in scraps of paper from last year (actually, I have been reusing some of the scraps for years b/c I love the paper)
-Glass ball ornaments are used to fill vases and decorative bowls
-Filling a vase with those star mint (white with red lines) candies, red Twizzlers, and wrapped cinnamon hard candies (I also red that Red Hots would work too)

Any other ideas? How do you decorate?

you can use wrapping paper to wrap empty boxes and put them around like they do at dept. stores.

Ah, I knew I was forgetting something. Sometimes I put gift bags out, stuffed with tissue paper.

Thanks!

Um...I don't! That is the least expensive way to do it. :) Our house is small, as our children, and knick-knacks and decorative elements will just be destroyed or eaten (yeah, I really want my 18-m/o to have full access to a bowl full of red Twizzlers!). We put up a tree, maybe get an evergreen swag or wreath for the front door from Trader Joe's, put up my MIL's homemade advent calendar and call it a day. :)

I like "decorating" with the holiday cards that people send us. Those make the most colorful display!

I was planning on wrapping a few boxes to have under the tree to spare the real gifts too much "love" from DD over th next few weeks! I think it'd be pretty to have wrapped boxes tucked away here and there around the house.

Another one of my favorite things is to just line up a looooong row of plain white votive candles. It's so pretty to turn out all the lights and have the warm glow of the candles.

We've just got an eclectic collection of christmas stuff around our house. Our house is little also. Very narrow and long.so it's easy to feel overwhelmed when your sitting in a particular room.
We put up the tree,my grandmothers homemade nativity scene, stockings, advent wreath on the kitchen table, cheap garland i got at big lots on the banister and the christmas cards people send us and that's about it.
I've found that if i do much more than that right now they either get destroyed by little hands or i feel closed in.

If you have a bigger house though(and sometimes i wish i did) go for it. I guess the word for cheap holiday decorations is BIG LOTS!!! oh, and the kids artwork.
