Default Love the Shopaholic Books!

Just need to post a plug for the Shopaholic series of books! I haven't read a true "book" in the longest time. I tend to read magazines, the newspaper, parenting books, 'net (!), etc. However, I rec'd one of these from the BBB Secret Santa Swap and LOVE it! I just bought the next one today and can't wait to get into it!

Other authors to go with next:

Marian Keyes (check print date as some are part of a "series" of sorts so you want to read them inorder...Angels, Watermelon, Rachel's Holiday- not the right order)

Jennifer Weiner

Emily Giffin (LOVE her books- "Something Borrowed", "SOmething Blue" and "Baby Proof"; just reread them and think they are very near the top of the chik lit genre)

Meg Cabot (if you want really light, easy, fluffy go with the teen genre ones like "The Princess Diaries" series)

For some reason I just don't like Becky from the Shopaholic books. I read all the "Shopaholics" and will prob. read more since they are such quick, easy reads though. I like Kinsella's other books more. :)

But, I'm glad you are enjoying them. :) There are lots of good books like this out there. If you ever need any more recs I have a ton.

Well, I am here right now because I can't sleep. So I clicked on your link & it looks interesting. If Amazon would deliver it this minute I'd order it right now, but other than that I can't bring myself to buy a book I'll only read once. I hate stuff lying around unused, so I'd rather borrow it from the library. Oh, I haven't been there in about a year!! Maybe I'll just order it... thanks for the rec. (can't even try to spell that at this hour!)

Seconding the Jennifer Weiner recommendation. I'm actually re-reading "Little Earthquakes" right now, which makes a lot more sense now that I'm a soon-to-be-mom!

The biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make...I did not live in the moment enough. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less. - Anna Quindlen

I read the newest one in early December when we flew across the country. I loved it. I came home and bought a lot of them off eBay, had to wait a week for them and then devoured them in nothing flat!

I agree tho, Becky starts to be too much. I really liked the Undomestic Goddess! :D

I have been getting my books from the library rather than buying them (usually used from Amazon) for over a year and it has a drawback. I have so few books laying around to reread. :) I am a big rereader, especially when really bored. Of course, I am a person that needs to have a book going at all times. :)

Here's a few more recommendations:

"Tabloid Love: Looking for Mr. Right in All the Wrong Places" by Bridget Harrison- it's a memoir so it is not fiction but it reads like "Bridget Jones" in a way (btw- totally recommend the "Bridget Jones' books though be warned the movies and books differ in plot lines a bit, both enjoyable on their own)

Jennifer O'Connell's "Dress Rehearsal"

Gemma Townley

Jane Green (with the exception of "Straight Talking" all the others are pretty good)
