The sun has set, not long ago...
to the tune of
Lullaby, and good night...

etc. I don't know the words to the original! But it's the Brahms lullaby tune, just hum it in your head and you'll figure out where the words go. :)

nak

I sing lots of songs to E before bed (I've probably got a good 30 minutes of material lol), but the one I would only sing to him (for obvious reasons) is John Lennon's Beautiful Boy (I sing E's name instead of Sean). The song I almost always sing while getting him into his sleepsack is Donovan's Magpie Song, which is short but sweet.

I sing "Songbird" or "Blackbird" at bed (hmmm, kind of a theme I hadn't noticed) and for distraction during the day the "bushel-and-a-peck" song that my grandma used to sing to me.

"I love Maddie a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. A barrel and a heap and I'm talkin in my sleep about Maddie"

It's great because you just keep adding relatives and friends names- it can go on as long as it needs to ;).

I sang "The ABC Song" to Aubrey a lot for settling-in times. Anything very new was too stimulating for naptime. Now I worry about her having some kind of narcolepsy when she starts school! LOL

I sing it to the tune of "Rock-a-bye Baby". Sorry, I was thinking of that as "Lullaby" but you're right, they're two different tunes. Let me think...

Cool! I think the story can be sung to both tunes! I never realized that! I may have to try that tomorrow with the book (I can recite the book by memory and sing it by memory to the Rock-a-bye Baby tune, but I'm finding that right now, I'm having trouble remembering the words when I change the tune. Isn't that interesting?)!
