Default Taking a gate down?

At what age do you take the gate down? Ainsleigh can climb up and down the stairs pretty well, and I'm wondering if I can take the gate down? Do you still have gates up? I guess I have this fear that she'll be 7 and I realize I never took the gate down. Plus, I wouldn't mind NOT having to high-step over it...

I would probably wait until she could climb the gate herself and you need to take it down for safety reasons. I don't know about your daughter, but mine (who has been walking for 14 months now) still falls when she's not paying attention or is distracted. Since toddlers are ALWAYS distracted I always keep one hand firmly in mine near stairs.

I would keep it up. We still have them up as DD opens doors and I worry about her sleepwalking and falling down the stairs. HTH!

Thanks! I'll keep it up. Good to know I'm not too overprotective for keeping it up.
