Default Double Stroller for Air Travel - Jet Blue

Hi,

Flying for 1st time w/ DH & 2 DS's, 17 months and 3 years old. We use a Maclaren double stroller which folds up nicely, but of course is too huge to be a carry-on.

Any chance they might let me bring it on the plane? We'll need it get the guys to the gate. I'm fearful of checking it and having it mangled or lost (I've heard horror stories).

Another option I've considered is cheap throw-away umbrella strollers with stroller connectors. Planning on a lot of heavy duty usage at our destination, so we don't want anything that's going to be a pain to use.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

You can gate check the stroller. Be prepared to fold it up in security if it can fit on the x-ray machine or have it hand checked by a security person.

It seems that gate checking is a little bit safer than checking it in with your luggage but they still take it outside the plane to put the stroller in the cargo area and then bring it back up after landing.

Good luck and have a great trip!
