Default Please help!! Nighttime diapers

Ok, so we didn't have any problems with nighttime dipes until about a month ago (my baby is five months now) and I ordered us some FB and some FB inserts. Well, they were too big, so we have just been using disposables at night, which I really hate doing. So, the past couple of weeks we've had major leaking, but I didn't want to size up the disposables because we still had half a pack of the size 2. Anyway, we tried the FB last night and she was soaked by 12. I stuffed it with a prefold and two doublers. The thing was packed full and made her huge, but it isn't nearly absorbant enough.

Please give me some recommendations or tell me what I am doing wrong. I am sure that the size 3 sposies would work, but I would much rather find a cloth solution.

Add to the fact that she wouldn't go back to sleep last night and then I woke up this morning to find that the sposie I had put on her at 12 had actually fallen off in her sleep sack and she had peed all over herself again. We've had a rough night and morning.

Thanks for "listening"!

Let's see. Are you sure the inserts in the FB were completely soaked through? I ask because if you have a ton of stuffings, it can make the leg holes leak. It's a backwards thing - you need enough, but not too much! Using a prefold is pretty bulky and might be a problem.

If it is bulk that is a problem, you could put a cover over the FB. Something like a Motherease Airflow works well.

Do you have any hemp inserts? Hemp is really absorbant. My current favorite are LizaJane inserts. Lately, we can get by with only 1 at night, but in months past, we've needed one plus a microfiber towel.

Other than that, there are fitteds with wool covers you could use. I know people like Benjamuffins and Aristocrats for night.

For a cloth solution (I have no sposie experience), it sounds like you need some hemp inserts. Some common hemp inserts are Joey Bunz, LizaJanes, and Snap-EZ. A non-hemp insert that also seems very absorbent around here are Cottonbabies inserts (microfiber inserts). Both hemp and microfiber tend to be less bulky than other inserts and may allow you to stuff with more without causing leaks because of gaps around the legs. For my super soaker, I actually need a LizaJane night + a Snap-EZ night in the same diaper. And they're pretty soaked in front and damp in back come morning.

Alternatively, you could try a hemp fitted diaper such as Benjamuffin Nightdreamers (made for night time) and a fleece or wool cover (more breathable) or if you prefer, a PUL cover like ME Airflows, Proraps, or Bumpy Nights (covers all depend on your preferences and the size/shape of your babe).

HUGS to you! We're always here to listen and try ofering some possible solutions. Wishing you a dry night. :)
