Default microfiber towel FOAM!

I am a beginner CD'er and have a quickly-growing 3 month old boy (almost 18 lbs already!). We are using medium-size FuzziBunz and stuffing them with the yellow microfiber towels from Costco. I read here that I should wash the FB's separate from the towels, because they bleed (true!).

When I wash the load of towels in our front-loader, I use 1 Tbsp of hi-efficiency detergent, and they still suds SO MUCH! As in, the window of the front loader is completely covered with foam. I end up having to run 2 more hot washes just to get the suds out. I'm starting to wonder if the cost savings of CDing is being taken over by my water and electricity usage!

Has anyone else had this problem, and do you have suggestions?

Default RE: microfiber towel FOAM!

I don't have a front loader, but when I was I do one cold wash with a drizzle of liquid detergent (maybe 1/2 tsp, if that?) and then I run a hot wash with no detergent. Sometimes I do two hot washes after the cold, just to make sure everything is nicely rinsed.

I would think that less detergent would help with the foam situation...
