Default Costco for diapers and wipes

I've heard great things about Costco wipes, are they really the best and the cheapest than major brand names? How often do diapers go on sale at the supermarket? Is it still cheaper to buy diapers at Costco than when their on sale? Which brands are the best?

I am due in 5 weeks. I'm not buying diapers until I bring the baby home from the hospital and they tell me which size I need. If I need newborn, is it best to buy the smaller packages until we need size 1 and then buy the pack at Costco?

Thanks for your advice!

Rebecca

We use cloth, but we did use disposibles for the first few days. I would definitely buy diapers before you have the baby! You really won't want to go shopping on your way home from the hospital. Just buy a small bag of newborn size. I had a 9lb 6 oz baby and he wore newborn size for a week or so, so unless you have a gigantic baby, you can probably count on newborn size working for a few days at least.

Congratulations.

I agree with the PP. Have at least 1 pack of NB diapers and one pack of size 1 at home before you come home from the hospital. My son was over 9lbs and we used up a couple packs of the NB diapers. You won't want to be dragging your newborn into Costco or WalMart or even the supermarket to get diapers and wipes. And you definitely won't want to be sitting home while your DP hunts around buying diapers (trust me on that!).

When I was using disposables, I found that the cheapest (but good quality) were Target and BRU house brands. Target in the green package and BRU in the maroon package.

Good luck!!

I had several jumbo packages of newborn diapers before my dd was born, and the hospital gave me swaddlers. I kept all receipts, but I used newborn size for a month before going up to the size 1-2 large packs. So it worked out well. Since my Costco doesn't carrier Pamper's cruisers, I get them at BRU with a coupon. I make my own wipes, but I have the kirklands, too.
