Default help w/ my pouch sling

I decided to pull out my Daisy doodles sling to see if it would work for DS now. He is 5 months and about 18 lbs. I tried the hip carry b/c he has pretty good head control but the sling seemed kind of loose.

I did let one inch out when he was younger to carry him in the pouch....but that way it seemed too snug (even after we let it out) b/c he is a big boy.

I cannot find the directions sent w/ the pouch but I am using he directios from the hotslings site.

Do you think I need to take it up again??? But actually I cannot sew at all so I might have to ask my neighbor to help me.

Also, once I take it up will I be able to wear my bulkier winter clothes and still carry him? TIA

Try these directions and see if they help more:

I don't know about letting the sling back out since I don't know your measurements. Did it fall at your hip before and you just wanted it to fit more snugly? Why don't you go put a sweater on and try it?

I'm still a newbie but I'm getting better with the sling!

Default RE: help w/ my pouch sling

When I made my pouch style sling, here's how I "measured" for the hip carry. I put DD on my hip (sans sling). I then shortened the sling until it held her in the SAME position on my hip as I naturally carried her in. You may be surprised at how short that ends up being, but it is pretty crucial for a comfy carry.

Your DS should be carried high, above your hip. And remember that when in the sling, his tushie should be below his knees, so that he sits deep in the pocket.
