Default Hotsling or Peanut Shell?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on a carrier. I'm completely new to babywearing and like the look and ease of a Hotsling or Peanut Shell. I have a 2 year old DD (sorry to say I never used a sling with her) and another baby on the way.

I want to buy either a Hot Sling or Peanut Shell but wanted to see if anyone thought one was better than the other? They seem pretty similar to me so I wanted to get some opinions from you all.

Also, can anyone tell me the best place to get one? I wouldn't mind getting one in EUC just to try out as well. I've been to TBW but am somewhat overwhelmed by all the information there.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't tried a pouch before (although I have used slings before), so I'm new at pouching too. If you look in the posts here, there are some very good comparisons between these two (and a couple other brands like the Cozy Joey and such).

As for where has the best deal? I just bought a Hotslings from http://dragonfliesandladybugs.com/sh...index&cPath=30 She posted the sale on TBW.

Robyn has limited prints but there is a 20% discount on everything on the website and free shipping. So I paid $35 for a brand new Everyday print HS. She will ship mine out tomorrow.

There is also this one http://www.snazzytots.com/index.php?...cPath=5_100_10 10% off regular price HS or clearance ones for less than $30. Shipping is $5 but free if over $40. Sale ends Jun 10. This one is posted on the Yahoo BabywearingSwap forum.

I was not looking at the Peanut Shell one at this point, so don't know who has good price.

I know what you mean about TBW. Great source of info, but totally overwhelming for newbies. I'm still working my ways through all the lingos, acronyms, etc.

If you do a search, you can find other comments that people have given about the difference between HS and PS. They are basically the same, just some prefer one over the other. What I've always told people is go for the print that grabs you the most.

If you make it over to the FSOT forum in TBW, you can enter your query in a search box.

Personally, the Hotsling is my fav..

I have two (borrowed) Peanut Shells and find them very shallow (not much material) compared to my zolo ring sling and my new native pouch. Could be because my newborn is gigantic (11+ lbs now), so he takes up most of the sling in a cradle hold yet can't hold his head up for other positions yet. Anyway, I'd look into how the amount of material compares. I can't get ds comfy in the PSes because he looks like he's about to tip out.
