Default Pasta for Babies?

Sorry, stupid question. I bought some organic whole wheat rotini pasta at TJ's (only .99!) and would like to make some for the boys. I'm pretty sure they're ready for something new (solid foods rut here with my veggie-by-choice little men). While I'm pretty good in the kitchen, I actually don't like pasta, and am not sure the best way to prep it for my guys. I'm thinking: just boil until well done, drain, then toss with butter and grated cheese? Any other suggestions would be great.

I toss pasta with some parmesean or romano cheese and toss in some peas or carrots and some black olives. Sometimes I'll use an tiny bit of oil and vinegar or Italian dressing. I'll also toss some grilled chicken in as well. DD loves sundried tomatoes so I'll chop some of those up fine and put them in and let them soften with the hot pasta. I'll pretty much throw anything in as long as it's soft.

Obviously, I've got a "flavorful" food loving kid.

Well, DD LOVES pasta, so I usually boil it, drain, and give to her. I've recently added oil and some tomatos (but she was a year old and I took the skins off) and peas and warm it up. Cheese will also work. You can make a cream sauce with milk and flour and butter. I use jarred (or homemade) spaghetti sauce when DH and I eat it with our dinner. Noodles dipped in yogurt. :) Avacado mashed and thinned out as a "sauce" for noodles. When you start nut butters, you can make a peanut sauce (but I'd probably use almond butter, soy sauce, vinegar, pinch of sugar, thinned out with water) for cold noodles.

We also bought the rotini (sp?) round spiral type noodles. DD loves the unique shape. :)

My ds loves pasta with olive oil and parmesan cheese. That's it.

Depending on what they're eating, it may be too soon - but Abby loves pasta with jarred marinara, black beans and tofu. I put grated romano on top to get extra calcium in her. It's all soft - but not sure if you're doing tomato stuff yet, and the beans may still be a little grainy for your boys. She also likes it with meat sauce - you may be able to brown the meat until it's in really little pieces, and have that work.

Butter and cheese is always good, but my DD likes it with cream cheese; stir it in when the pasta is hot so it blends throughout. I've tried it - it's actually really tasty!

We just give her the rotini plain. Boil, rinse/drain, serve. Easy-peasy!
I was a bit concerned at first about the chance of a wheat allergy... so watch out for signs.

Like pp said the only thing I would be worried about would me a wheat allergy. I waited until my boys were 1 before I tried wheat but your little men are close. My youngest is 22 months and he loves pasta ( and has for a while) I make the organic pasta with a lite cheese sause and add veggies he loves it. I think he was about 10 or 11 months old when we started.

Last night, I made pastina (teeny tiny stars) for Adam, and mixed in some pureed chicken, some pureed carrots, and a slice of american cheese, which melted in the hot pasta. He LOVED it!
