As I prepare for baby #2 and breastfeeding again, I used Soothies for the first couple of days with my first (3 years ago), and they were invaluable, especially when cooled in the refrigerator.
I recently came across Gerber Soothing Gel Patches. They seem similar to Soothies and are a lot cheaper (8 for $13 vs. 2 for $10). Before I buy a pack, I want to make sure they are good, otherwise I will stick with Soothies. Has anyone used the Gerber Soothing Gel patches? Are they similar to Soothies? Can they also be refrigerated? Thanks for your feedback. |

I've never tried the gerber ones, but a tip for the soothies is to cut each one into quarters. That way, you get 4 times the use out of them! They are so big, and you really only need them to cover your nips, not the entire areola. This made mine last MUCH longer!

By far the best ones out there are the ameda comfort gels. There is no comparison IMHO so I would get those.

I liked them both- both can be refrigerated. the difference is that the Gerber ones are not supposed to be reused, whereas the Soothies can be reused several times. The nice thing about the Soothies is that you can take them off immediately before nursing. With the Gerber ones, you have to rinse off before nursing.

Thanks for all the feedback and recs.
Why do you need to rinse off after using the Gerber ones? |
