Default DDs wacky weight gain

She's making it really hard to buy ahead for!

At birth - 8lbs 6oz
6 months - 16lbs 6 oz
12 months - 17lbs 8oz
18 months - 24lbs 11 oz
19.5 months - 27lbs

Seriously - she barely gained anything at all between 6 and 12 months and she's gained nearly 10 lbs since then! And, over 2 lbs in 6 weeks. This is nuts.

Hence the reason I don't buy clothes ahead anymore. Despite the awesome deals I find sometimes, I just don't do it. I now buy clothes as we need them because I was giving away so many outfits that she never got to wear. I had winter outfits that didn't fit her until summer and vice versa. Therefore, I wasn't really saving money at all, but spending more than I would otherwise.

However, my problem is opposite of yours - DD is 3yo and just now in a 2T! She only weighs 26 lbs and is really hard to shop for. On the bright side, I don't have to buy clothes all that often. Just buy as you go...so much easier, and at this age the clothes can be rather inexpensive anyway. I just watch the sales and I don't go shopping for her unless we need something. Decreases the impulse buying when you find something that is just too cute to resist!

Yeah, I felt bad that we got a lot of winter 12 month outfits that I kept. DS was in 18 months by age 1 and he's always been on the 75th or so line, so I figured she stay were she was born, too. At age one, she was in 6-9 mo. still. Now, only 7 months later, she's outgrowing 12-18 months.

DS gets tons of hand-me-downs and I rarely have to buy him anything. He's super consistent in growth, too. Figures that the one I have to buy for is so off!

Glad it's not just me who can't buy ahead. I am starting to buy for spring now and a bit for summer.
