How do I figure out what size bathing suit?

DD is 8 months now. She is currently in 18 and 24 month clothes (depending on the brand). She is going through a growth spurt now so that could change really soon. How do I purchase a bathing suit for her for the summer? Do I purchase the same size as the clothes I think she will be in? It was so easy to buy a bathing suit for DS. I'm just not sure how the sizing for suits works for girls. Any advice is appreciated.

That's what has worked for me. Swimsuits are so stretchy that they're forgiving if the sizing isn't 100%, which is nice as well!
