Weight gain during pregnancy and baby birth weight

I gained 31 lbs last pregnancy and DD was 6 lbs 12 oz. My prior preg weight was normal, not over or under weight. A friend of mine also gained 31 lbs. but her DS was 8 lbs oz. She looked normal before pregnancy as well. How does this work? Anyone knows?

I am 5'9", average/athletic/slim build. I gained 55+lbs with DD#1 (as of my last weigh in a week b/f I went into labor, I'm guessing it was closer to 65lbs on my delivery date). DD#1 was 9lbs 3oz. I gained 40lbs with DD#2, she was 8lbs 6oz.

Im 5ft8 and have been a size 11/12 forever. I gained about 30lbs each pregnancy ( +- 2 or 3) and the boys were 7lb15oz, 8lb13oz and 9lb8oz

I am 5'2", slim build. Gained 23ish lbs with DS, he was 8lbs 5oz.

I am 5'8" and wore size 6-8 pre-pregnancy. I gained between 35 and 40 lbs and DD weighed 6 lb 14ozs.

I am 5"4 . Gained 12 lbs during my pregnancy with DS and he was 7 lbs 13 ounces at birth. Started the pregnancy at 144 lbs and ended it at 156 lbs.

I don't think there's any relation! And I don't think there's any relation (too much) between birth size and later height/weight either (unless there were complications or something specific).

DS was the second smallest in the nursery and now he's off the charts for height (and has been since he was nine months old).

A friend's son was something like 10 lbs+ at birth and the biggest in the nursery, bigger than the big football player who pointed out his little guy, and now he's a peanut!

So true! I was 10lbs at birth and am now 5'2" and 120lbs. My sister was 9lbs and is not quite 5' and maybe 105lbs.

I don't think there is much of a relation. I gained 25 with one, 30 with the second- I was 115, 5' 4'', and a size 0/2 when I started (I am a runner so my weight is muscle)- both kids were 6lb12oz. My friend was pg same time as me, she started same height weight as me- she gained 55 pounds, her daughter was 6lb4oz

I'm 5'3" average build.

I gained 50 pounds with my first child. She was 8 lbs. 4 oz.
and my induction was 9 days prior to her due date.

I gained 60 pounds with my second child. He was 9 lbs. 7 oz.
and my c-section was 10 days prior to his due date.
