Default Would it be worth it to buy a Marathon at this point?

DS has hit the height limit for the seat we currently use. He is 40" tall and 36lbs. at 41 months.

We have a regent for one vehicle, but we cannot get it to fit in our other vehicle.

I'm thinking of a Radian65, but then it occured to me that a Marathon has the same FF weight limit, and during the Britax sale, I might be able to score a good deal.

What do you think? Would it be foolish to buy another car seat now, instead of getting something that might transition to a booster?

Have you considered the Graco Nautilus? It harnesses to 65lbs and then converts to a booster. You'll have all the benefits of the Marathon or Radian, plus you can use it longer as a booster.

I have. I've been to 4 Walmart in the last couple of days trying to see one, with no luck.

One thing that makes me not want to go with the Nautilus is the fact that it evolves into the backless booster. I just question whether that would affect stability if it were involved in a crash?

I'm sure it's been tested extensively, and in every conceivable way, but it still gives me pause. I think if I saw it in person, I'd feel better.

Your DS isn't very heavy; he'll outgrow a Marathon or Radian by height long, long before he'll outgrow them by weight. The Radian has slightly higher top slots than the Marathon (we got about another 1.5yrs out of the Radian vs. the Marathon), so I'd go with that over the Marathon, even if the price is about the same.

I just went and picked up a Nautilus tonight for Jackson who is in a Regent in my car. I have to say I am VERY impressed with the seat! Is is steel reinforced and feels extremely sturdy! Much better than I had expected. The regent is just so difficult to install in other vehicles so we picked this up knowing it would work for all 3 kids for a LONG time. If you can find one I would say it is ABSOLUTELY worth every penny! Truly...the quality is impressive for being a Graco.
