Default HELP..Washing Machine questions & recs needed!!!!

We need to get a new washine machine, ours is on it's last leg.

What is the advantage to the front loaders??

We have a top loader now & I figured we'd buy the same...but I see front loaders everywhere...
What's the scoop with those??

TIA!!

I think the thing with front loaders is that they don't have the agitator, so you can get more in them, and it's gentler on your clothes.

We have the Kenmore Elite Oasis. It's a HE, top loader, no agitator. I love it- when it works right! I think the one we got was from a batch of bad ones. We've had to have the computer panel replaced once already (only a few months after getting it) and it's starting to act up again- water leaked yesterday. Grrr...

When the Sears guy came out to fix the computer panel he said it was something they've fixed for the newer models. Everyone else I know who has one loves it, and it really does get a lot in. We just happened to get a dud!

The front loader, for me (I'm tall) was too low, and I didn't want to spend the extra for the extra piece that lifts it up. The Oasis was a good compromise.

Good luck! I never thought I'd be so excited about a washer/dryer as I was about the ones I got!

The front loaders use a lot less water, less detergent, and are gentler on clothes. Top loaders are usually less expensive. Either will get your clothes clean!

We switched the old top loader that came with our house for a Whirlpool Duet front loader washer/dryer combo, and I LOVE it. We have definitely noticed a savings on our electric and water bills, and we got a great deal from Costco. I also really like the pedestals that came with them to make them higher - they are storage drawers for detergent, dryer sheets, etc. Before I saw the deal at Costco, I was going to forego the pedestal as well, but now that I have them, I wouldn't consider not having it. Although it costs more to get the pedestal, I would pay more to get them just for the convenience of the storage and not having a bunch of containers of detergent, bleach, etc. sitting on top of the washer/dryer.

We just bought the Kenmore Elite Oasis last night - the one Julie mentioned. We did absolutely no research, but it was on sale at Sears and we were desperate. I hope I like it!!
