Hello, proud dad of twins, one boy and one girl. Our twins are 3 months old and I am looking ahead to getting all purpose stroller.
I heard MBUD are going up substantially to 850 for 08 models and found the Albee 2006 MBUD for 499. So this naturally had me starting to research double strollers and I have a few questions. Would anyone recommend Baby Jogger City vs MBUD vs Bob. I see Bob Dualie are very popular but they only have one front wheel. I have heard that the 2 wheels on the other 2 models are more sturdy? We currently have snap and go and love it. Still deciding if I should wait till the kids finally grow out of it before purchasing but hard to pass up deal on 06 MBUD for now. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance |

I considered those three strollers last year (but not for twins, for siblings of different ages). I went with the BJCS because it has the highest canopy , which means it can be used by taller/longer torsoed children.
If I were choosing one of those strollers for twins and they didn't appear to be over long in the torso (we new DD#1 would have a long torso, basically from birth, she's got DH's build), I'd probably go with the MBUD. The canopy on it is the lowest on the three, but it has the nicest recline for young babies. The BJCS has a really nice canopy (height and coverage) and, really, you can't beat the fold. It steers nicely (but so do the other two). We also have a MBUS and BOB Revolution Single. Of those two singles, the BOB steers the best and has a nicer canopy. I see lots of BOB Duallies around and people seem happy with them. If this is going to be your "only" or primary stroller, however, I think the main thing is to play with the folds and lift them into/out of your vehicle. The BJCS has the easiest fold and its STILL a beast. I've never used ours by myself -- only when DH is along to lift it for me (and I'm pretty strong). I don't think any of those strollers are ones I'd want to be lifting in/out of a vehicle on a daily basis.

This is the stroller you need.
The Valco Twin Trimode Limited Edition.... http://www.letsgostrolling.com/limit...n-trimode.html I know it seems expensive but when you add in the price of all the accessories included, it is actually a decent deal. Sorry, I've been drooling over this stroller for ages but have no need for it and you are the first person I've been able to recommend it to. I do have the single and I really like it. But since I haven't been able to play with the twins, I can't say much about how it compares fold-wise. But from what I understand at 29" wide, it is one of the narrowest double all-terrain strollers.

I have a BJ City Elite Double that I use as my only double stroller. I often end up taking only one DC with me, so I end up grabbing my Maclaren Triumph (single) a lot as it fits in my CR-V along the side of the BJ.
If I were you, I would seriously consider the BJ if you are thinking about just doing one double stroller. It's 29.5" wide, so it sails through doorways without scraping the doors. When I had a BOB Rev. Duallie for a little bit, those same doors sustained just a touch of damage. The width on it is 30.8 on joggingstroller.com. After trying out the BOB and the BJ in the mall, the grocery, small stores, etc. I decided the double front wheels of the BJ made it a good bit shorter (maybe 10") and a lot more maneuverable in the places I go. That's probably the biggest thing you'll need to consider. Where do you see the twins going regularly? Mainly the mall or in/out of daycare? Get a Maclaren Twin Triumph. Mainly down the street to the park or on bumpy woodsy trails with a runner? Maybe a BOB if they are not in the long-torso camp. A variety of places and you only want to have one stroller that stays in the car (like us) you may like the Baby Jogger. It has shocks, great sun canopies, oh, so many features...

I have a Bob Rev Duallie, had an MBUD, and had a BJCS single. The Bob is my walking stroller and it's awesome for that. It practically glides! However, I would find it too big for indoors. The MBUD has the best steering of anything I've ever pushed! It just maneuvers so easily. You can steer it with one finger, I swear! However, I found the fold a bit cumbersome for me. I sold it for the Bob since I wanted something for outside and the bigger wheels on the Bob were better for that. I had a BJCS single and it steered nice, but I found the lack of suspension a huge problem. But if you're only using it for inside, then I'm sure a BJC will be fine (they may have suspension on them now, though). Someone else mentioned the Valco and I know people love them, but personally I just don't find them as well made as the Bob and the MB.
Not sure that helps, but there you go!! Good luck and welcome!

Yeah, the City Double has suspension, but the single does not. I think thats a bummer! Maybe we should tell them...
http://babyjogger.com/Comparison_chart.pdf Oh, and I don't think the weight is that big of an issue if you don't do anything more than lift it in and out of the back of a van or small SUV. Never tried it in a car or big SUV, but it isn't too much for me and I'm a wimp.

Yes, the BJCSD definitely does have suspension.
Its not the weight of the strollers for me, so much as the bulkiness/awkwardness of lifting them. If this is going to be your only double and you will use it indoors sometimes, I'd go with the MBUD or the BJCSD -- they are narrower, by about 1" than the BOB. Doesn't sound like much, but it makes a difference. Personally, I prefer double front wheels, but some people don't care. And, FYI, the MBUD/BJCSD weigh about the same as a Maclaren Twin Techno.

I am also in favor of the Valco TriMode. I love mine. It is one quality stroller and you cannot beat it's versatility and comfort. My second choice would be the Baby Jogger. I love the canopy and the way it folds.

Congrats on your boy/girl twins, proud dad!
We just had b/g twins (1 month old tomorrow) and trying to figure out which stroller to get was a royal pain. We originally wanted the BOB (LOVE the suspension & the canopy & the quality for the price) and then considered the BJ City Mini Double (pretty narrow) but we were concerned about possible "long torso" issues. I'm glad we considered the long torso issues - our twins were born at 35w & just over 4lbs but were both over 18" long! They are still growing like weeds in the length department. We also looked at the Valco Twin Trimode but I balked at the price & wanted to wait for the Valco Twin Latitude. Unfortunately, the Twin Latitude isn't priced much lower. Would have loved the special edition Valco Twin Trimode but I really couldn't justify the price (esp when you're buying almost everything these days times 2!). We ended up not going with a jogging stroller and ended up with a Zooper Tango. I was really adamant about having a generous canopy because of our SoCal location & all the sunny days. The ZT has a huge canopy and it steers well. I can steer it one-handed with the twins in it. The price included a rain canopy, sun shield & insulated boot. I like the fact that both seats recline for infants & has safety guards (you can zip the back netting & front to enclose infants. The seats are also very generous. I found a lot of other strollers to have narrow seats & when a friend's son "modeled" various strollers for us, this was one he looked very comfortable in. The parent cup holder is a joke (placement is perfect for getting sheared off) and I'm not crazy about the accessibility of the generous basket but overall, I hope it's a good fit for us. Haven't taken it out in public areas for a spin yet but I am dreading maneuvering its width when we're out & about as it is wide in comparison to tandems like the double SNG (which I love, too!) Good luck with your search! Last edited by LaCostaMom; 04-13-2008 at 11:52 PM. |

We love our bjcsd, it is heavy and awkward but steers like a dream and really fits through every door. The canopies are great, the kids are comfortable and I really feel like it's great for multi-purpose use. I shop with it, and do outside stuff. The adjustable bar has been really useful, dh is waaaay tall.
