Default Private Schoolers: How Many Uniforms?

I'm considering purchasing a few uniforms for a steal of a price. Wondering how many I should get.

There would be two regular school days with an opt. enrichment day.

I'm thinking two jumpers, two bike shorts for under jumpers, 3 shirts(one white, two blue), a skort, and a cardigan. I'd have to get some shorts for the enrichment day and some blue knee socks. Also t-shirts for e-day.

Is this too much?

TIA

My dd goes full time, 5 days a week and I have 10 uniforms. I like to have a full weeks worth clean, pressed and ready to go.

HTH,

Melissa

It really depends on how often you'd like to do the wash.

My DD goes 5 days/week and I overbought b/c I got them for a steal as well. I got 13 skirts, 15 pants, TONS of shirts from various places. But that said, she can just throw in her uniform with the rest of the household clothes and I don't have to worry about having to do a last-minute wash so she has something to wear for school. LOVE that.

I've never cared for the jumpers b/c I have to worry about bike shorts underneath, plus it's another thing to have to wash+fold. Next year, I plan on skipping those entirely and just getting the skorts.

Thank you for your replies, ladies!

I don't need them until Fall '09 so I'm way jumping the gun here.

I think I might grab the few I saw and look for even better deals come next winter. I do laundry almost daily so don't feel a need for as many esp. with only 2-3 school days(the others are homeschooled).

Super, I prefer the jumpers look and dd does too so I'm willing to deal with the shorts. We might change our minds after actually using them though. Thanks for the insight.

I should've clarified:

DD loves dresses and hence the jumpers. We'd get into battles about wearing shorts underneath (she felt they defeated the purpose of wearing a "dress") whereas somehow in her mind, skorts were OK b/c the shorts were attached. Twisted, I know...

Her school requires shorts under dresses (including jumpers) so there wasn't much of a choice. So in the end, for us, it wasn't worth all the extra laundry & trouble to have the jumpers. Next year I won't even buy any.

WOW you're shopping early - but that's the way to get the best deals!! Good luck! I hit the stores for the following year's uniforms in late September/early October.

May I recommend caution. There is the chance that your dd's school may change their choice of fabric. This has happened to some of our local private schools lately. If you buy far in advance and the school changes their fabric pattern (here usually plaid) if not plain navy blue, you may be stuck high and dry with your purchases.
