Default Help me sort out names!

Well, we haven't had a name poll in a while, but I hope folks don't mind another.

DS#2 is to arrive 9/24 and we really don't have a name picked out. We like continuing family names, and DS#1 is named for a host of relatives who all happened to have the same names (including his two grandmothers, who were both named for their grandfathers).

We want a name for DS2 that will scan well with our last names (three syllables and one syllable) that will come after his names, too.

ETA: Last initials are T and R.

Alexander, Theron, and Edward are all family names. There is pretty heavy pressure from my side of the family (which has no other boys who will reproduce) for "Alexander Theron". We like "Aaron Alexander"... but Aaron is definitely not a family name. I like "Edward Alexander", but DH hates Edward - it's his own middle name and he has no positive, strong associations for it.

Believe it or not, both DH and I are stressing over this.

Help! I'm hoping to get your opinions about what sounds good, and what really doesn't.

I voted Aaron Alexander because I like it and more importantly you like it. Don't let family pressure you into a name you don't want.

When your family pushes a child out of their vagina (TM Liz), they can name the baby.

Also, if your DH hates Edward, I would not choose it. Personally, if both of you like Aaron, I would go for it, whether or not it's a family name. I think Henry and Aaron sound cute together.

I voted for Alexander Theron because I liked it best, but they are all nice names. Personally, I don't like the name Aaron (bad childhood association) - but there's nothing wrong with it as a name generally, just my own memories. Go with what *you* like and forget family pressure. We went out on our own (while still using family names) and kept the whole thing a surprise until DS was born. Everyone seems to have recovered

ALL great choices, but a last initial would help me vote.

It is for this reason we have decided we will tell NO ONE the baby's name this time around until it is born. I had enough opinions w/DS2 to know better.

I say go with what you like and don't listen to the rest of the family. You're the one who will have to use and live with the name for the rest of your life. Besides, once you name DS Aaron, it WILL be a family name (they all have to start somewhere, don't they? )

Out of curiosity, do you prefer names without nicknames? Aaron and Henry are both names without nicknames.
We had a hard time with names for DS too. I wanted a name without a nickname. DH wanted a nickname.

All of the names sound good to me. Don't stress! Go with what you like. Once your DS is born, everyone will love him. The name won't matter to your families then.

Your baby your choice for the name. Let no one pressure you. Your husband hates hates Edward then it's out. You like Aaron and if your husband likes Aaron that should be the name. You'll never make everyone happy. My mom didn't like I was going to name a girl Madalynne Grace. That was just to bad. She's lucky I had a boy.
