I keep seeing these pop up on craigslist for cheap so I'm thinking of snatching one up. They are compatable with Thomas and Brio! I also like the table top idea for coloring, puzzles etc. For those of you who have it or have seen your DC interact with it can you use it with some sort of chair like a table and chair set? Looks kinda low to the ground to me. Maybe ok to use with a PBK anywhere chair? We have the Step 2 kitchen and I'm thinking of placeing the play table across from it so it would be a nice area to lay out place settings, play food and appliances. Or is it a bit to low for that? Same height as the kitchen counter? What do you think?

My ds has this table. There is about 10.5 inches of space between the floor and the actual table, so you might be able to fit a chair in there. Also I don't think the table is as tall as the kitchen counter. But you could probably use it for an eating table.

I think this table definitely has it's time and place, but (at least in our house) it wasn't too long of a lifespan. If you want it mainly for the table space, I think it would be cheaper/easier to get a table. If you like that it can be a train table or a regular table, I think many train tables do that too.
It's great for awhile when DCs can't keep a track together or take off randomly with pieces. But you can't change the configuration ever. I did really like the table, but we also soon moved on to another train table and then another after that! I thought I would use the table top more than I did and when I eventually did, I figured a regular table would be fine. |

The waiting room at my son's therapists' office has this table. I think it is great for that kind of setting, but I wouldn't want it at home. Like a pp said, you can't chance the layout, so it's pretty limited for train play. It's also very small and low it the ground. We have a regular train table at home at it is a much better size and offers more flexibility.

i really wanted to get this when charlie was into trains & his hot wheels as max used to take apart the tracks on our train table and he's get really mad...then we had ernie and i figured the same, it would be less annoying for the bigger kids who didn't have to worry about track-wreckage...but i really don't like how low it is to the ground. if you're getting it for the 18mo-3y crowd, sure go for it if the price is low, but if not i'd skip it.
