Default Time senstive:ISO books for 3-5 yr olds on the following topics

Hi there,

We are building up our library at work and I am responsible for finding books appropriate for 3-5 year olds on the following topics

new baby arriving in the home

blended families

parents who suddenly leave

parents who are away due to the military (and come home from war)

parents who are incarcerated (and possibly those who return).

If anyone has any recommendations for books appropriate for 3-5 yr olds on the above topic, I would love to hear them! I will need to place the order in the next couple of days, so the quicker the better!

Thanks!

Here's a suggestion for a "new baby" book:

Very cute book!

Here's a really nice one about adoption:

I'll try to add more later...

Do you have time to go past your local library? Ours has a section with books that cover all theses subjects. Maybe you could get an idea which ones would work for your needs.

If I think of any that you could order, I'll post.

There is a Reading Rainbow episode that deals with parents being incarcerated. Like all their episodes, it is very well done. You may be interested in purchasing the DVD of that episode as well as the books from it:

Thanks for the suggestions. And, Beth, thanks for all the detail.

Keep 'em coming if you have any more!
