Default mama's girl

anyone else have a Mama's girl?
DD is almost 8 months old, and is generallly a happy girl as long as I'm within her eyesight, so it makes it tough to take bath, or go somewhere on my own, just curious if other mamas are in the same boat?

YES!!! DD's nickname is Superglue if that tells you anything. We often joke that there's still an invisible umbilical cord that the doctor forgot to cut. DD is going to be 2 this month and the mama love is still going strong.

We've always said that DD1 had (has) her blankie and bear for lovies and that DD2 had (has) me. It's definitely gotten better as she's gotten older - she's 4 now - but for a long time she was allllll about mama, especially at bedtime.

Mine is all mama at 23 months. She's okay if I'm not home for someone else to put her to bed but heaven forbid if I'm around. I think it kind of hurts DH's feelings but I figure she'll be hating me through the entire teenage years so I might as well take it while I can get it.

Yup. I find this to be true esp. if you're a SAHM and your dd's primary caregiver. Very normal. My girls were like koala's the first year.

My DD is 8 months too, and although I never considered her a Mama's girl, she's definitely happier when I'm in sight. I assumed that was just part of being a baby.

I have an exersaucer that I can put in the middle of the living room, and from there she can see me while I wash dishes (no dishwasher), use the toilet (as long as I leave the door open, LOL), and do general clean up. She's usually happy with that, as long as I give her something NOT attached to the exersaucer and talk to her, look and wave at her, etc and occasionally take a few seconds to play with her. I do that for up to 20 minutes once or twice a day.

She has a Pack N Play that I keep in the laundry area with a few toys that keeps her happy while I'm folding clothes.

We have multiple carriers, but she gets tired of being carried. She likes to be free to move around. She used to like her swing, but now usually prefers to be on her hands and knees or sitting upright with toys.

When she was in the bouncer/Bumbo seat stage, I put that in the bathroom a couple of times to take a bath. (It was right next to the tub.) But now nothing fits, so I just wait for nap time for baths. She takes naps in her crib, so then I'm free to move around.

The majority of the time, we sit on the bed or on the floor together.

Honestly, I LOVE that she smiles so frequently when she sees me and is so happy to be with me. She is a happy baby, and most of the time I enjoy being with her.

I hope that helps!

at 2 DD is still a mama's girl. If DH is home and tries to do anything for her- put her in her car seat, carry her, she throws a fit. I hear "Mommy get me!" or "Mommy does it!" all the time!

OTOH- at 3 1/2 DS is a total Daddy's boy!

thanks ladies, I just remember with DS, he would actually take naps not attached to me, and I could let his dad take care of him while I went out for walks by myself...sigh, I know someday we will be not getting along if my relationship with my mom is anything to go by, it only took us 35+ years to like each other, LOL, so I'm trying to enjoy the togetherness-

thanks-
