Recently seen in a very professional setting in the metro DC area:
Dressy men's navy blue pinstripe pants. With cargo pockets. ??!!?? In 20 degree weather: mink jacket, micro mini and stilettos. White mini, white stilettos. OMG I was nearly struck blind by that one. And IMO if it is cold enough to wear a fur coat then it is too cold for a *jacket*. What the he!! is the point of a fur jacket?? Not going to even touch the whole fur vs. much warmer synthetic materials thing. It's too easy. The 'Hobbit': a very short, very heavy set woman wearing dark brown velour pants, dark brown Uggs, a black fleece cape and a floppy black hat. She was just doing a grocery run on her way back to Middle Earth. At least she looked warm and comfy, but IMO it was too comfy for public consumption. But the very, very best has to be the Uuber Yuppies. I guess my middle class upbringing doesn't 'get' it when MEN, yes MEN dress like the manaquins at Abercrombie. Like the bright green rugby shirt with the HUGE pink polo logo as big as your hand, with a men's dress shirt poking out from underneath and a BOW TIE. Yep, bow tie. I mean, we see them a lot around here, but not often in a combination like this. And today it was the fella in: a brown and tan sweater, a black turtle neck, a black coat, brown VELVET pants embroidered with MOOSE, and.......wait for it..... Cowboy boots. Like the embroidered velvet moose pants weren't enough of a fashion statement, you know?

I'm not going to touch the fur and stilettos combo - I've seen it all up here, in 20 below weather and on sheer ice no less or in blizzard conditions. Quebecois women suffer for their fashion.
I just want to know...where do you buy velvet moose pants? Because I might need that information someday

Ha Ha Ha! I'm here in DC too and it is definitely a fashion challenged city!

At least it's more interesting than our look here, which is something along the lines of Roseanne and Dan Conner in the early days. You know it's bad when you move to an area, look for someone with decent hair so you can ask for a stylist rec, and it takes literally weeks to find someone! I fear I am becoming one of them though. I've worn a Mickey sweatshirt to the store more than once at this point. (Insert bag over head smiley here).
