Default i just want some freakin' pizza.

i am doing ok with being gluten free. i don't even really want any of my old favorite foods because i really don't want to feel like crap again. i had a supposedly gluten free mcD's m&m mcflurry. um, not so much. contaminated. i should have none... mcdonald's and all... i just threw it up.

but PIZZA. oh, pizza. i have been so sick that my doc wants me to come back in to be checked for pneumonia. i have NO appetite. i care nothing about eating right now. i am forcing myself to eat. and the only thing i can stand to think about eating right now is pizza. i just want to order a freaking pizza!!

sigh.

(i have some gluten free mix, but there is no way i am askin' DH to do one more thing for me today. he has been tortured by my illness enough. he even got some of it himself, just not as bad as me.)

Liza, Amy's makes a Rice crust pizza! Cheese or Spinach. If you can find them, these pizzas are really good for frozen.

(scroll, it's about halfway down.)

Hope this helps the craving! (ETA: and that you are feeling better SOON.)

DH makes his own pizza using Kinnikinnick PIzza Crusts. I have tasted them and was pleasantly surprised how good they are. You should be able to find these at just about any store that has a good gluten free selection. They are frozen.

I've seen gluten free crust mix in the health food section of the grocery. Not specialty grocery either.

My fave gluten free pizza crust is a mix by chebe. Very yummy!!!
On another note, I have known several celiacs who eliminate dairy in the beginning to expedite healing. So, maybe you're having a lactose sensitivity from the damage due to celiac? Lactaid might help or maybe some probiotics?
But I feel ya on the pizza.... I miss breadsticks and cheese sauce. Ugh.

OK, I know you're sick, but would it help to search for gluten-free pizza crust recipes that you can make when you're better???? Thinking outside the box and all that.

Sorry you're still sick -- you've had a rough go of it, that's for sure!

That's a good thought - I am admittedly unfamiliar with celiac/being gluten free, but I remember that when DD1 was horribly ill with a stomach bug at age 2 and ended up being hospitalized for a few days, her ped suggested laying off the dairy for a while because of the temporary damage to her gut from being so sick for over a week. He said it can take a while (a few weeks) for the gut to heal and get back to being able to digest dairy easily. Since she was 2 and a big milk drinker, once she was feeling slightly better and wanting milk, we successfully gave her Lactaid milk for a week or two until things stabilized.

This is very common. You may have better luck with ice cream in a few months.

I am totally with you, Liza. I miss pizza like nobody's business.

Just remember that celiac is correlated with lactose intolerance as well as 'western diet' diseases like diabetes. Be careful of yourself.
