DD2's preschool did something similar last year but they sprouted them in ziploc baggies with a wet (damp?) paper towel. They had the whole class' baggies tacked up on a board on a easel so you could look at all of them at once.

That bottle looks like a really fun way to see more of them in action all together, though. Thanks for sharing!

so, then do you plant the seedlings?? silly me, i never gave much thought to *how* beans grew.... do they form underground?? I feel so dumb asking that question LOL!! also, where did you get the beans to start with?? a seed pack?/ a grocery store bag or beans, etc...

I just used a bag of mixed beans (it's a soup mix like 12 bean soup or some such) that I already had bought for soup. It's cool watching them, different beans seem to sprout different ways. Some of them push a root down first, others sprout leaves out of the top.

I'm going to plant them outside after awhile just to see how long we can keep 'em living. Not that I expect to be harvesting a bean crop or anything...but it'll be fun to try to keep them up.
