DD is 4 and DS is 21 months so I expect a big cut and scrape summer for both. Till now, they each have only fallen about once where they broke skin. We have a first aid kit in the house and in each car but since we have never had to deal with it, I am wondering what I should have super handy.
This is what I think but please help me out: 1. Spray area with some sort of antibiotic/cleaning spray-WHICH ONE, WHAT TO GET?? 2. Apply ointment (like neosporin)- WHICH ONE? 3. Bandage, this I think I can handle ![]() so-what antiseptic sprays and ointments are the favs around here? TIA

I've heard good things about Scab Dab, but haven't tried it yet. It is from a company called Indigo Wild. That would be for more minor scrapes vs. a big huge cut.

Does anyone remember when your mom would put Merthiolate or Merchurochrome on your cuts and scrapes?? That stuff STUNG!!!
Now, I rinse with cool water, then wash it with soap, and then triple antibiotic ointment (or Neosporin) and bandage. I keep a little first aid kit in the car, it has an antiseptic wipe and band-aids in it. I just wipe off the cut, and slap a band-aid on it. When we get home, I fix it up right. |

drop of tea tree oil mostly, no ointment. Baindaid if the cut is bleeding and needs to be shut but only for a couple of hours. Arnica tablets if they bonked a body part.
Breastmilk is great for cuts too. |

I usually wash with soap and water, then put Neosporin and a bandaid on.

My parents used Merchurochrome all the time. I think that was okay. It was the stuff with tincture in it that STUNG! I don't know what it was called, it wasn't quite as red.

Remember how it stained your skin, and the BandAid and any clothing it dripped on?

, except I use Kids Polysporin, which has a bit of topical pain reliever in it -- I also prefer the Kids version for myself.

My dh is very anti-antibiotic treatments for most cuts so he won't use Neopsorin and the like. He washes with soap (non antibacterial) and water. I have been doing that more lately. But, I do keep a bottle of the Band-Aid brand Hurt Free Antiseptic Wash in the house and in the car. It is very handy in the car in case you aren't near water. I use Neosporin after.

We just wash gently with water and put a bandaid on for a while because DD believes bandaids will make it better. We take the bandaid off in a couple of hours if it's a wound that would benefit from getting some air. Sometimes we use that Nu-skin stuff if it's in a spot where a bandaid won't adhere.
If it starts to look infected after a day or two we'll put antibiotic ointment on it, but I usually try to avoid that. If it's more bruise than scrape, we'll use arnica cream.
