Anyone have a Karaoke Machine?

My son is turning 5 in two weeks - which in itself is completely shocking. We have been trying to come up with a birthday gift, as we gave away, as suggestions to relatives, the 2 things he has asked for. So now my husband and I are trying to come up with a good gift. I think he would LOVE a Karaoke machine. He has gotten a few of those stand-up microphones, all of which have broken after a short while. He loves music, loves to sing and is quite a ham. I think it would be something he would have that could grow with him. So now the real question is - Is there one Karaoke Machine better then another? I can totally see us using this at our family parties so wouldn't mind spending a little extra money to get one that we can all use. Does anyone have a recommendation? I was looking at the Target website and they mention something about being compatible with CD+G - I have not clue what that means.

Please any tips advice would be greatly appreciated as I would like to get it this weekend.
