Default And a happy story in the news for a change - toddler survives being lost in the woods

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090507/...91Z2h0b2RkbGVy

So nice to finally read a positive story amidst all the depressing stories about abductions, swine flu, etc etc. So glad this child is OK and unhurt, but you have to wonder about how easy it was for him to get out and take off like that...Right now, the family is probably just thanking the stars for his survival.

This happened close to where we live. The child wandered off into the mark twain national forest for 3 days. Most people, including the local news media were starting to get that sick feeling in the pit of their stomachs. What they don't say on the news is that they were also dragging lakes and all other bodies of water looking for the little boys body.

Apparently the boys father works nights and was sleeping and his mother was on the phone with the grandmother and the child wandered off through the back patio doors. I could have happened to any of us. Apparently the childs grandmother is catholic and spent 3 days on her knees at age 70 praying to see her grandson again.

I was almost in tears when I hear about it myself. Around here they're calling it another missouri miracle.

That must have been absolutely gut-wrenching for family, friends and the community. You are right - it could happen to anyone. Can you imagine the mom's eternal gratitude to the volunteer who found her little boy? He must feel so good about having made the rescue and most likely saved the child's life. Hurray for good news and a happy ending!

This is a beautiful story and heartwarming to read. We all need to read more stories like this. It seems all the news reports anymore is the bad stuff.
