Default side impact protection help!

Hi All. I'm so torn about the infant car seat options. I'm torn between the Peg Perego Viaggio and the Graco Snugride. The biggest thing that I'm torn about is the side impact protection. I have a big car (Escalade) so it's pretty safe. Do you think the Peg perego is worth getting since it is soooo much heavier than the Graco. I feel like I would have trouble lugging it in and our of the car once the baby grows. I'm a petite mom.

I say go with the Graco or the Chicco. I wouldn't recommend getting the Peg. I have friends who have them and have not been happy with them. I have a Britax BV because of the True Side Impact Protection Wings. But I feel that the Peg seat has missed the mark on there seat.

Complaints on that seat are it's heavy
The head wings push the child's head to far forward

Also you use to have to have the handle in the down positon, not sure that is till is the rule on the new ones. I likely didn't even pay any attention to it to the weigh of the seat and that it was comp with anything I was interested in.

I have the PV and I've liked it fine. Then again, I always have it in the car, so I don't really lug it around anywhere. I bought it because of the SIP, because I just did not like the look of the SR and because it had a good rating on the BB book. This was back in 2006. However, the consensus on this board seems to be that the SR and the Chicco are much better seats and the posters here definitely know their stuff.

The Peg can be fine. It's just that the Keyfit and SnugRide are better for a ton of different reasons. One of the biggies is price. Even if price wasn't a factor, I'd still pick the KeyFit or SnugRide over the Peg.

FWIW, I have the SnugRide32 (which some complain is heavy), and I wasn't sure about the weight at first, but I really found that my muscles grew with baby
- of course, now that DS is too heavy to carry around in it all the time now (plus, they want out after the first few months anyway), but the ability to have a carrier if needed for an extended time (through two Chicago winter seasons, or just late-night quick errands with a sleeping baby) leads me to recommend the SR32 to most new moms (reasonable pricepoint with av. outgrowth of 18mo.)
