Default Question on Returns at IKEA

I looked at my receipt and they have a 90 day return policy. I have a bunch of things that I never used/opened that they still carry but it's been way over 90 days.

Has anyone had success in returning for a store credit without a receipt or with an old receipt?

I changed my mind on these things but never got there before the return date.

Any thoughts?

IME it depends on the store and the SA. I was able to return several things one day that were a month or so over the 90 day limit. I asked for store credit, acknowledging that I was over the limit, but pointed out that I lived far away from the store and that with the store credit, I would turn around and respend the money. However, another time I had one item that was a week over and the SA refused it since it was passed the date. If you are close enough to try, I say go for it. You have nothing to lose. Otherwise, you could try to sell them on ebay or regift or donate.

For items over 90 days, I think you might have more luck trying to return it without a rcpt and ask for store credit. Infact DH is going to try and return something today that we had bought 4 months ago and just forgot to return in time. He will try without a rcpt (we really have lost the rcpt) and hope they will give atleast some store credit.

I was at OldNavy earlier this week. Went to return a pair of socks which they were still carrying, but it was over 90 days. I had the rcpt which showed it was over 90 days and they refused to take it back. I went back a couple days later without the rcpt and got store credit for the price of the socks.

Great idea! I have an IKEA file cabinet just sitting here that I bought like 6 months ago and never assembled/used. Will try this!

I've returned things with a receipt over 90 days and received store credit. This was at the Stoughton, MA store.
