Default Sudocreme in toddler's hair...

How to get it out?

While DH was changing DS this morning he got hold of the sudocreme (diaper creme), took a huge swipe, and worked it through his hair like gel. Not that either of us uses gel. DH has washed his hair 3x w/ CA Baby, but it still looks greasy, and worse, he smells like a cross between witch hazel and mold I think I have some Dove shampoo lurking in the cupboard - should I try something that lathers more like that? Or any other advice? His godmother suggested lemon juice, but I'm not sure I can reliably rinse him w/o getting it in his eyes - he's not very compliant.

How about trying to mix baking soda and water to rinse? My mom always used to do this to me as a kid when I had build up. I think the ratio is one tablespoon of soda to one cup of warm water.

If that doesn't get it out I would try to shampoo. Maybe wash it with him laying down over the sink so you can control where the water/shampoo goes a little better (another thing my mother used to do!).

I wouldn't do the lemon because of the sun.

Oh, what fun - must have felt great going in! Sorry you're all going through this....

What about getting most of it out with a rag towel, and then using the baking soda rinse the pp suggested. Might help.

Ypu. Ditto PPs. It is what they use to clean waterfowl when there is an oil slick.

As for getting him to go along with it, does he drink from a bottle or sippy? Maybe you could rest him in the baby tub and lather him up/rinse while he snacks? I also think you and DH need to tag team. More hands the merrier!

Thanks ladies - I can always count on you to have been through these situations before I will try the baking soda concoction 1st, then Dawn if necessary, and the idea of feeding/snacking as distraction is great!!! He has crashed unexpectedly tonight after a very exciting holiday at the godparents, so I'll do it tomorrow. He's just going to have to smell funny at daycare tomorrow. I'm sure they've seen it all anyways
