And does it matter if the bottles are glass or plastic?
We are going on a 1 week vacation soon. Can I just freeze the milk directly in the bottles I pump into the day before we leave, and thaw them for the first day back at daycare? I don't want to keep the milk in the refrigerator for a week. Thanks!

Yes, that should work fine. Just leave room at the top of the bottle for the milk to expand as it freezes.

I freeze directly into the Medela plastic bottles. As PP says, leave room for the milk to expand but otherwise fine. I'd be a little more leery of freezing in glass, but that's based on being taught as a child that I shouldn't freeze glass bottles. Once frozen milk is defrosted it should be used within 24 hours.

I don't think I'd freeze in glass--that can cause the glass to shatter.

Thats one of the great things about the playtex drop-in system. Just pump directly into the drop-ins, freeze in the drop-ins, and then thaw and drop into the bottle! Easy peasy! Anyways, enjoy your trip!
