Unhappy Is this dairy intolerance?

DS turned 1 about a month ago. Until then he was on milk based formula but was eating chesse & yougurt but not whole milk. At his 1 year appt the ped suggested starting him on whole milk instead of formula. He absolutely refuses to drink whole milk at home but his DCP says he does ok with it at daycare. For the past couple of weeks he has been pooping 3 times a day and atleast one of those is more watery. This only seems to be happening during daycare days and not weekends at home. It just so happens that he only drinks whole milk at daycare and not at home. So we put 2 & 2 together and figured it could be because of the whole milk.He didn't get any yesterday and pooped only once it seems. So is this dairy intolerance? He seems to be doing fine with cheese & yougurt since he has been having those for about 2months now and this seems to be more of a recent development. We are planning to see for a couple more days without whole milk. I will call his ped but just wanted to get some opinions from moms here as to what they think.

Thanks much

It could be the milk. I notice that when *I* have more milk or dairy than usual that it definitelt, hmmmm, affects me.

How much milk is he drinking there? Can he have water instead?

that is similar to what happened with my older daughter. She couldn't handle whole milk until she was over 15 months old. We just backed off and tried again in another month. The "1 year old" is just a guideline. Not all digestive systems mature at the same rate. Not all babies are ready for cow's milk by 12 months.

He only drinks about 4oz of whole milk a day (at daycare). He does get about 5-6oz of formula still since he absolutely refuses to drink whole milk at home and I was not sure if 4oz is sufficient to provide the necessay amount of calcium.

Hmm ... I was curious if this meant no milk at all or if we should just try later.

Have you considered trying soy milk? I've had to go that route for our 18 mo DD b/c she has a milk protein intolerance. Good source of calcium and other vitamins/minerals. She still has yet to eat cheese, non-soy yogurt, etc. She still is affected by dairy in my system when I BF (mornings/before bed). And watery poop/diaper rash is her signature reaction to dairy these days.
