My DS2 (2 1/2) got a burn on his hand from touching the inside of the toaster over (while at grandma's house). It is healing fine and not too bad (and does not bother him), but it did leave a dark mark. Any ideas what I should put on it so it heals better / does not scar?
TIA! Robin |

When my niece got burned with hot water the docs told them to use Aquaphor on it. Glad it's not bothering him...burns are no fun!

The very best remedy I have found is to run it under cool tap water right after it happens and then rub egg whites on the burn, let it dry and repeat a couple of times. It really helps with the pain and the burn doesn't leave a mark. I don't know if it works on "older" burns.
I asked a dermatologist and he said it's a great remedy because the egg whites have collagen that help rebuild the skin.

When DS burned his hand on the fireplace glass last winter (he somehow got around the safety gate, I felt so bad), the pediatrician prescribed silver sulfadiazine cream and neosprorin. I put the cream and neosprorin on him twice daily and covered the burn with a nonstick bandage. We did it for a couple of weeks until new pink skin came in.
