I'm trying to get my thoughts together for DC's birthday party. We are having a "baking" party with a professional baker with ten children.
One of the favors is going to be aprons for the kids to wear at the party. I have the aprons and they are great; basic white, fairly good quality, professional style. I would like to decorate them a little to give them a little bit of color. My original idea was to have the kids decorate them, but time will not allow it. So now I'm thinking of ironing on a transfer if I can find one that isn't too expensive and that DC likes. But I'm also thinking that having each child's name on the apron would help the baker and other adults (and would be fun for the kids). Any ideas how to do that without it becoming too expensive? The only thing I can think of is putting an iron on transfer on each apron and then having the kids write their names with a fabric pen. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also, anyone know of an inexpensive favor idea that would go along with a dog theme party? |

You could get some fabric and wonder under for the applique. All you need then is an iron and something to make a shape (cookie cutters work well to trace around). Cut them out and iron on. To add names, some simple fabric paint which you can also use to seal the edges of the applique. Super quick, but need to dry for 24 hours or so.
Good luck, sounds like a neat party!

Avery sells iron on transfer paper that you put through the computer. You can buy it at Staples.
http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Hel...-Sheet.htm?Ns= You could personalize each one by printing a design of some sort and their name in a neat font. Size the design (clip art? photo?) and then you can add each childs name. You could probably make a template and get 2 or 4 per sheet, depending on how big you want the design. Just change the names as you go, print, cut and iron. Cute party idea BTW! |

My SIL made personalized aprons by writing each kids name with a fabric pen in a decorative handwriting.

Thank you all so much. I'd forgotten about wonder under. I could even use the patching fabric and cut out a shape from a cookie cutter. That may work. I had thought of the avery sheets that can go through the printer, but I'm looking for something less "silk screened" and more fabric/embroidery I think.
