Last time I weighed DD she is 38 pounds and I have her in a Nautilus using LATCH w/5 point harness. I can't find the Nautilus manual and the replacement I ordered is not here yet. She is rapidly approaching 40 pounds, do we need to re-install the seat using the seatbelt instead of LATCH? I was just on another board (Disney related) and there is a debate on LATCH only being used until 40 pounds vs higher weights. Is it the car that determins the limit? The seat? I never gave it much thought until now since DD was under 40 pounds. BTW... the Nautilus is in a 2005 BMW X3. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's 48 lbs for LATCH in a Nautilus.

Yup, BMW's and Natiluses are 48 pounds, you have lots of LATCH time left. But luckily the seatbelt install on the Nautilus (and BMW, lol) are absolutely a breeze...maybe even easier than LATCH since there's only one connection point, not that you have to take it out to test my theory
. Always, always use the top tether anchor, no matter what.

Jools-So after my DD hits the 48 lb mark, how do you secure the Nautilus if you are using it as a high back booster? Since you're using the seatbelt and they've outgrown LATCH, does it not get secured anymore?

The LATCH would only be holding in the weight of the seat, so like 18-20 pounds? The seatbelt would be holding the 50-70 pounds of child. Make sense?

Got it. So you can continue to use LATCH as long as you are using the seatbelt, not the 5 pt. harness.
Also, what about those Graco Turbobooster high back boosters. Can you attach them or are they just placed on the seat?

Those have no attachments at all. The Sunshine Kids Monterey, Britax Frontier, Clek Oobr can all be LATCHed, though (and have much better side impact protective structure, more comfy seats, and taller backrests, so you do get what you pay for...Turbo's the only decent seat in a big box retailer and it's cheap, so it has that going for it, but it's so easy for the general public to misuse that I'm not terribly fond of it).
