Default gate check a zippy?

We are planning on traveling to Mexico in Jan. and wondering if gate checking a Zippy is a bad idea?? Should I be worried that it will get damaged? We will just need the stroller for shorter walks around the resort. Would like to take a stroller instead of just the bjorn so my mom can walk with her too. DD will be 1 year old then and around 20 pounds. Should we buy a different stroller for traveling? If so, what do you recommend?

I've flown with my Zippy on at least 4 occasions. Never an issue. I do put it in one of those cheap red "Gate Check" bags from BRU. I love it for a travel stroller because it can haul so much, lay flat, fold fast and tiny and steers easily. Much preferred as a travel stroller to the quest.

I've never taken the Zippy when flying. We bought a $25 Chicco umbrella stroller for travel and have always gate-checked it and never had any trouble (meaning the Zippy would have done fine too). it is nice to have something light-weight when you travel, and something you don't care about trashing/losing if it comes down to it.

I've gate checked my Zippy on both domestic as well as international flights and it came out fine. The routes I've traveled are used to having families on board, so I felt comfortable checking my stroller. I didn't use a bag, but I did take off the canopy.

Thanks so much for easing my mind. Will get a red gate check bag at BRU and take the Zippy.

I've gate checked my Zippy several times. Never had any major damage, but the last time we flew, the cup holder was broken off.
