Default Do you have a Cricut Machine? Would you buy a used one?

Do you like it? I see the older models on sale for about $100. I'm wondering if people use theirs a lot and if it's worth it since the cartridges are $$$.

Do ALL cricut brand cartridges work in all models?

TIA!

Curious about this too. I know the new ones can "weld" and so forth but I'm not sure how much I'd care although I"m sure it is a very nice feature to be able to weld. The cartridge prices freak me out. I've been curious if the old cartridges work in new machines and vice versa.

I picked up the older model on a BF sale for $69. The cartridges were $28. From what I understand the cartridges go on sale pretty often.

I am not a scrapbooker--but I do like to make cute things Mostly I wanted it for cutting letters. There is one font that comes with it, and a few basic shapes and tags. I really do think you could use that for quite a while and be really happy.

I believe that the cartridges fit both models.

One thing I didn't realize is that the mats have to be replaced every so often. (The mat is sticky)They aren't that expensive $10-15 but it is one more cost. They also sell a set of tools for removing your cut things from the mat. I didn't buy them, but I might. I did rip a few of my things when I played with it this weekend.

THat's my reality LOL. I just have a totally illogical desire to buy one even though I don't have the time. Story of my life with most crafty adventures and once baby #3 arrives, the next time I'd pull out the Cricut it would probably be an archeological relic.

I like mine...when I can get it to cut right. I feel like I'm having to fiddle with the blade depth more than I should. I need new blades...another ongoing expense. Bu I do like it for lettering. Much easier than cutting out letters one by one with a Sizzix.

LOVE mine. I have the bigger Cricut (expression), but all the carts work in each of them and I would use it a lot even if it was the original (smaller) one. I scrapbook, but use it for lots of other crafty projects. DS's love it too - in fact, the paper dolls cart has provided HOURS of fun for all of us. DS1 will "snuggle" with the cart. book and make lists of which dolls he wants to cut next. The carts do go on sale a lot and ebay has some great prices if you're willing to put the time into watching the prices. I have a few and I feel competely fulfilled with what I have. I did all of our gift tags with them last Christmas, today we made a Christmas countdown calendar, we made ornaments for our homeschool group to decorate, etc.

I haven't had any issues with figuring out blade depth, etc, but most of my paper is the same thickness so that may help me.

I would definitely recommend it!

I think I would love the machine. I'm a wanna be scrapbooker (I have tons of scrapbooking stuff but no time to sit down and do it). I do love to make cards so I think this is a fun thing for me.

WOuld you guys buy a used one off CL? What would be a decent price on CL? The ones here seem pricey.
