Default Maui hotel/resort with nice pool - ONE night only

We are finally using our timeshare in Maui, but to use our air miles, we have to arrive one day before we can check in to the timeshare. It's cheaper for us to have one extra night in a hotel rather than pay for an extra plane ticket to arrive the next day. We get in around 6pm and can't check into our timeshare until 4pm the next day. We thought we would like a place with a great pool for kids and we'll just hang at the hotel until we can check into our timeshare condo. Our timeshare pool is small...fine for us, but no slides etc.

So, any suggestions. DH is looking at the Ka'anapali Westin...our time share is in Ka'anapali, so it'll be easy to transfer the next day..but if there's a great location closer to the airport, that would work as we get in later in the day.

Thanks.

The Grand Wailea Maui has awesome pools connected by slides. It's not that close to where your timeshare is, but you won't find a nicer pool area.

The two big resorts in South Maui (incl the Grand Wailea) have the best pools.

I'd either do that, or just stick with one of the places in Kaanapali for convenience. Where's your timeshare? Is it possible to do one night in the place your timeshare is at?

I wouldn't bother trying to find a place by the airport (I assume you're flying into OGG). It's like 45 min tops to either W. Maui or S. Maui so not that big a deal.

You could do what we just did in O'ahu - roll the dice with priceline.com! We got a $450/night oceanfront room at a 5 star resort on Waikiki for the grand sum of $100 a night, thanks to priceline. We specified the hotel class as "resort" (which is the highest class) and the specific location. Our max bid was $100 - a smokin' deal! Loved it! They upgraded us to an enormous oceanfront room, just because they are nice in Hawaii! Since you have just one night, it really can't hurt to try it.

It's by Napili Bay, not Ka'anapali. It's a few minutes walk to the beach.
DH wants to try the pools at the Westin. Our timeshare has a small basic pool. We're not so worried about the room, as it's only night, but want some fun things to do with DS during the day.

What a deal...I'll have to see about that, but knowing our luck we'll get something really bad.

We really liked the Maui Kaanapali Villas. IMO, its the nicest/largest beach in Kaanapali. Which Westin are you thinking of? There are 2 in Kaanapali -- a Westin hotel and a newer Westin timeshare -- which is on the same beach as the MKV.

The Marriott in wailea has a toddler waterpark pool area that might work for you. I don't think it's as much fun as a lazy river kinda option (parents and kids enjoy together) but your kiddo would probably have a blast!

there is a photo here called the wailele pools and slides!

I don't think you can get something bad if you specify the hotel class as resort - that's a 5 star category!

It's the Westin Maui Spa and Resort - it has 5 pools and a water slides into the pool.

I like the Maui Kaanapali Villas...it's this isn't it? http://www.the-maui-kaanapali-villas.com/ They say there's a kiddie program, any idea on what that is like?
