So I'd noticed that pretty much every single time we had pasta, DD2's cheeks and chin would look almost chapped once I cleaned her up. I assumed it was just the acidity of the tomato sauce. But then there were a few lunches we had just pasta without sauce and she still had the red cheeks and chin. And a couple nights it happened with a bowl of chicken soup.
And then it hit me. We topped all of them with grated cheese. Specifically, Pecorino Romano cheese. It's made from sheep's milk instead of cow's milk. She's never had this reaction when we have had pasta at a friend's house for lunch. So I asked, and they use Parmesan, not Romano, and it's made from cow's milk. DD2 has never had any reaction to any other dairy products, and eats cut up grape tomatoes without this problem too. So can someone be allergic to sheep's milk/cheese if they're not allergic to cow's milk? Are the red, chapped looking cheeks and chin a sign of allergies even? Thanks, Sarah

When I was a kid, I could not tolerate goat's milk but I was fine with cow's milk.

I suppose it could be something similar, then. Thankfully, I found a different type of Romano that's made with cow's milk at the store yesterday for us to try out. Because not giving DD2 cheese on her pasta would be like denying her air to breathe. She pretty much licks the stuff off and demands "Mo' cheeeeese!!!"
Thanks! Sarah
