Default any tricks to stop the leak in my l.t. sand and water table?

we have the following "little tikes sand and water table" and the plug constantly leaks. i don't think it has ever held water before... always a little stream trickling out. and tips to stop the leak would be much appreciated!

Yeah, or some sort of silicone/ caulking. That's what my DH used on our Naturally Playful sand & water table- he did it right away before DD started using it much, and it's been fine ever since (plus the stuff is clear or whitish, so it doesn't show up much).
