Default "Don't do that. You're one and a half."

This is what DH says to DS when he cries. Nice. I didn't know there was an age limit. I wonder what the cutoff is....one?

Sigh.

Is it because he's a boy? Geez. He's an infant, for crying out loud!

Nice. My DH has started telling me "Just let her cry, it's not a big deal" any time I ask him to help with the baby. UGH,

Does he say that just to vent his frustration or does he actually expect a toddler to understand what the concept of age means? I mean, "you're one and a half" means absolutely nothing to a kid.

DH has pulled a few comments of the same nature on various occassions. I keep explaining the concept of "age appropriate behaviour" but it's a lost cause.

I hope it's just to vent his frustration, but I don't really know. Either way, it's a stupid thing to say. I have said the same about age appropriate behavior, but it's a lost cause here, too.

FInd a book on child development that speaks to *you*. Find the part about age appropriate behavior and highlight it, then leave the book open in the bathroom. I swear it works.

Of course, the bathroom... that's genius!

Hopefully just venting, otherwise the guy is in a for disappointment for a long, long time to come. I actually think toddlers cry MORE than (older) infants.

My DH liked A Dad's Guide to the Toddler Years.
