Question Please help - which AT Stroller?

I am still struggling with which stroller to buy and am hoping you all can help me decide. I was going to go with the Uppababy Vista starting from birth because I love these features of the Vista:

-raised seat height
-reversible seat
-large basket
-easy to attach bassinet
-lighter weight

I was going to add the Bob down the road when baby is old enough. Now I'm thinking maybe I should just get an AT from the start that can accommodate a newborn (and not get the Vista). Keeping in mind the things I like about the Vista above, which AT would you all recommend?

-MB Swift
-MB Urban Jungle
-Bumbleride Indie
-Baby Jogger Summit XC
-Mutsy 4Rider
-Bebecar Off Road

I really want an easy push and would like an easy/standing fold. I'll be using the stroller for urban pavements, indoor shopping, beach walks, and off-road trail hiking.

Thank you!

I haven't used the AT strollers you've listed, so I'll let others chime in on that aspect.

I do, however, have a Vista that was purchased when DD was about 4.5 months old. I greatly underestimated my desire to have a parent-facing stroller before she was born and once she was here and we started strolling her around, I hated not being able to see her. We love our Vista and the reversible seat has been worth its weight in gold so far. I'm a big believer in parent-facing strollers, especially in the first year.

Do you have an active Craigslist in your area? We plan to use the Vista as long as we need the reversible seat option, then we might sell it on Craigslist to purchase an AT stroller. Or, we may just keep the Vista. That might be another option for you. Good Luck!

The MB Swift fulfills all of those requirements. You can also get a carrycot and convert it into a reversible stroller for newborns.

Would you recommend the swift over the bob rev with 12" alloy wheels? The suspension on the bob is amazing. The swift does not have suspensionhow is it on bumpy trails?

I have used my Swift on very bumpy terrain (country in Wisconsin). It worked well. Of course, bigger tires would be even better.

The new Swift has a much larger canopy than the 09.

I did not realize that the MB Swift doesn't have suspension. I think I definitely need suspension for my hiking trails. Does the Bumbleride Indie have suspension?

Hi, for everything you're wanting, I'd recommend you get the BOB Revolution from early on for those beach walks and all-terrain capability. With an infant insert (e.g., Snuzzler), you should be fine from 8 weeks of age in the BOB.

You're not going to find a better, more sturdy stroller for all the outdoor stuff you want to do.

If your budget allows you to also get the Vista (in addition to the BOB), the Vista is also a very nice stroller for the reversing seat and all of its features right from birth, including the bassinet that you can use indoors too.

But if you can't do the BOB and the Vista together because of cost, how about the BOB and a Maclaren Techno; as those two together are around the same as a new Vista. The Techno is good from birth, and it's going to be a more convenient errand and travel stroller than BOB, but still a nice, full-size stroller.

Or, if you get the Vista + BOB and end up using the BOB most of the time after 1 to 2 years, you can always sell the Vista and get a large chunk of your money back!

Hope that helps!

If you want a stroller for off trail hiking I would stick to joggers.

BOB revo with the big tires
BJ Summit
MB Terrain

Those three will hold up nicely to rough hikes. The rest of the ATs would be able to do it but it might not be as smooth. I have an indie and I could take it on a hike but if you plan on hiking a lot I would want one of the above. If you are willing to ditch the stroller for hikes all together you may want to look at some nice baby carriers like the Beco. That's what my family uses for hiking. The Beco is great for newborns up to young toddlers. We also have a Boba that I just used on my back with my 35 lb 3 year old on a hike in Crater Lake NP.

So I think I might suggest a Vista and baby carrier. Then once the baby is older(over a year old) maybe you can sell the Vista and upgrade to a BOB, BJ, or MB.

Thanks so much everyone. If I get the Bob, can all of the ones below suit my needs for rough trails? Which one would be best for my needs (including both city and trails)?
-Bob Revolution
-Bob Revolution with 12" AW
-Bob Sport Utility

Thanks!

The Sport is probably best for the trails. The 12" would probably be best for the city. If you plan to use it for both then the original revo would be your best bet. Large wheels in back for the trails and swivel wheel in front for the city.
