Default New Stroller Addict

Hello I came across this site in a google search for reviews on a new stroller *sigh*. I have just admitted to myself I am an addict. My son is just shy of 1 year, and I have owned going on 6 strollers. I had a Bugaboo Cameleon originally but then took it back for a Frog. I love my Frog but then saw an Inglesina Urbe on closeout and decided I just needed it. I used that for a few months with the Frog and then decided I needed a BJCM for the summer to protect my lil man from the sun. I sold the Inglesina and got the BJCM, but now I HATE the way my poor baby slouches in it. When he's in his Buggy no complaints. In the BJCM, he is always looking for a reason to get out. I guess he's uncomfortable. So then I decided to get a Britax Blink solely for travel. As soon as I took it out of the box, I decided I hated it. On to google to research Uppa Baby GLUXE. I just happened upon this site. Now, Albert Thurston arrives on Saturday. I hope this is it. Maybe, 6th time will be the charm?! Any owners of Albie? If so, pros and cons please.........

pampers37 - check out the cybex strollers. They're really nice and all except the ruby have a newborn-suitable recline. They're on clearance many places for crazy cheap, including overstock.com. They're new to the US last year which is why you can find them for cheap, it's not a quality issue.

Do you want something as light as possible or are you more looking for an umbrella fold? There are many many nice umbrellas out there if you're willing to go to 17 lbs like the baby planet.

Everyone around here loves Al but you should know that its going to be BIG! I was shocked at how big my Topaz was. You get this idea in your head about how big an umbrella stroller should be but then it arrives and its kinda huge in comparison to what i was expecting. I am thinking that Al is going to replace your BJCM and you will be on the search again for another umbrella for travel.

Your son is almost a year so you can probably get something more bare bones for travel like the Mac volo or triumph, cybex ruby, ub g-lite or g-luxe, bumbleride flite. Also if you have decent CL I might look for the bugaboo bee. A compact reversible would be a nice addition to Al and the Frog.

I'm willing to bet that this won't be your last stroller purchase, not because Al isn't a great stroller but because there is always some new and fun stroller to try or a sale that you just can't pass up! I have owned lots of strollers, but try to keep it to 4 at a time (for 2 kids) but then the stroller itch gets to you and suddenly you "must" get something else. Just one stroller addict to another

Thanks for all the feedback. Sadly, I'm realizing this probably won't be the last purchase also. My friends think I'm CRAZY. They just don't get it. I still secretly want a Vista, City Select, and Bee lol. I've just found out about gilt.com and I'm dying for their next stroller sale. My husband won't be too happy, but he goes by the "happy wife, happy life" motto. I can't wait for Albie to come in. I ordered a cute seat liner also. My son is a total preppy boy, but I think we may want some mod in there from time to time. I did see the Cybex on overstock.com...NICE! I'll resist for now. Albie'll may be my main squeeze for a little bit.

also i dont really know what i want quite yet. my wife is petite, 5'.. so im assuming the lighter the better for her.. however taking between 8-20# stroller out of a trunk shouldnt matter too much - correct?

i think the plan is to get a snap and go to put the carrier on for the first few months - until we can put our baby in a more upright stroller.

i dont really know what we'll need as this is our first.

For the Snap and Go I recommend the Maclaren Easy Traveller. It's nice, light, steers well, has tons of storage, and comes with a cup holder! I find my Bugaboo to be a lot lighter than it looks. My Inglesina and BJCM seemed to weigh more to me. I really my Buggy. i would recommend it to anyone. But when considering a Buggy there's the debate between Cameleon or Frog. I had both but went with the Frog because I didn't like the way the fabrics looked with bases on the Cam. I loved the bright red of the Frog with the quilting under the canopy. I went as far as having a custom canopy made for the Cameleon and still hated it. I wanted to be happy with my purchase so I stuck by the Frog. I'm very happy with it. Also, the Frog was more bang for my buck. It came with everything. I also used the top of the bassinett fabric as a footmuff for my son last winter once he moved to the seat. This winter I got the actual footmuff for half off. Sweet deal. The Frog is being discontinued so it's cheaper now. If you register for it at Buy Buy Baby when you get your registry completion coupon you could grab it for $568. Not bad at all.
