After buying some nicer shoes and boots with stacked heels, I have discovered something...my pants are too short to wear with them!
I sit down and my socks are exposed! It doesn't look great even standing up really. So, am I supposed to have different pant lengths for flats vs. heels, and how do I do this? Also, I'm finding that as I go down pant sizes, the petites are becoming too short for me overall, but, of course, the regulars are still way too long. Not many pants come in "short" (which is a little longer than petite). Boy or boy.

I have different pants that I wear with heels versus flats. I just have them hemmed differently. One particular style I have two pairs in the same color, hemmed to different lengths.

Of course I'm going to quote my favorite fashion website: http://youlookfab.com/2006/05/16/per...engths-please/
I've come to realize that I'm a huge violator of the perfect pants length rule and I'm slowly revamping my closet. Gosh, it is painful to duplicate pants in 2 lengths, but otherwise it just doesn't look right.

Annoying, but yes, I have some pants I wear only with flats and others I wear only with heels. My heels are all 1 1/2to 2 inches high so at least I only have two lengths to deal with.

It'a a PITA isn't it? I decided to just wear heels with my dress pants. I'm short and I love heels so it works for me. I've got jeans for flats and heels and casual pants in different lengths. The petite is just a tiny bit too short for me as well. BR has some pants in short and petite. I find the short to work for me with a variety of heel heights. Gap sometimes as well. The petite is a 29 inch inseam but the short is 30. If I could find a 31 inseam my problems would be solved!

Yes, i have pants for flats (very few).
Mostly I have pants hemmed for 2 inch heels. And then I have some hemmed for 3 inch heels. Indoors I have to cuff these! I can get away with wearing the 2inch pants with 3 inch heels, i think. I hate the drag my pants though and won't wear them the other way. Now I find i forget what is what and i am going to have to put index cards on the hangers to remind which pair is which, from season to season! And remember that is the beauty of skirts, don't have to worry so much about flats/heels! I wear a lot of skirts.

Now the blog mentioned upthread said that your pants should skim the ground in the back. This seems a little low to me. WNTW says they should be midheel in the back, IIRC?

BR petite and short and Ann Taylor petite inseam is 30". These are my go to pants and they work well with heels. I'm 5'2.5" and my heels are 2.5 to 3.5 inches.
