Default Bottle warmer water is turning to goo?

We have a Dr. Browns bottle warmer. After a week, the water in the reservoir turns into goo. I don't know how or why the water is turning to thick clear liquid. I'm using tap water. Maybe I need to try distilled?

I don't know how the Dr. Brown's warmer works. I have the Avent and I empty the warming water every time I use it. Do you have hard water? Maybe that is impacting it.

Well it looks like the bottles (Dr. browns) are letting milk expand and spill into the warmer. I did some research and milk goes up the straw and out the bottle. Going to try and warm up milk with the internal parts removed and see if that fixes it.
