Default Update from Oz

Everyone has been so helpful and understanding over all my posts about my upcoming trip with DS. Just wanted to post and say that we're here. The flight went well, DS was so good and we both got some sleep - not a tonne for me as it wasn't quality sleep. Our seat mate was a Dad of a 7 and 9 year old, and even engaged DS at times. The only hiccup was the taxi driver didn't know our hotel and I didn't have the address - it was recently bought by another chain, so had a name change. I was able to look it up in the street manual the driver had and from the map of the area, I could tell him which hotel it was - I looked at map several times in planning our trip.

We got in super early today, and went to a museum that has a great interactive area where kids get to build a house, use tip trucks/crane/conveyor belt - I just sat and watched while DS played. He was super good about walking and waiting at phone store while I set up sim card and mobile broadband that I'm using now. Even got to ride the monorail back to the hotel.

We are both exhausted and just hanging on to get to dinner time and then back here to sleep. In a bed! Sure beats 14.5 hours in a plane seat!

Glad to hear you're there safely, and unscathed! Have the best time you can, and check back here regularly

You probably guessed that us night owls on the BBB would still be up, right? LOL I'm so glad you had a relatively uneventful flight. Keep us updated on your stay, we'll be waiting for you to vent to us.

Oh, and don't forget to check your hotel room for bedbugs.

glad to hear your flight went well!

are you going to visit the opera house tomorrow? if so, they are filming the oprah show all day, with the audience on the steps. one show in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening (about 4 hours per show). it's a pretty massive set-up, been going on for over a week. hhmmm, i'm not sure if you can even go around the opera house tomorrow, it may closed off for the show. one option might be the small train that goes through the royal botanical gardens - it makes one stop by the opera house. australia is really using opera's visit for a massive publicity push (the opera house has been nicknamed the oprah house). there is a massive "O" on the harbor bridge and flags with her face on it all around the quay. two days ago, a large section of the botanical gardens was closed down for an oprah event. we could here the music across the water and there was an amazing firework display for the grand finale. hope you have a great time!
