Having lived in NYC in my "roaring" twenties, I've always dreamed of taking a daughter back there one day, at Christmas time... the store windows; hot chocolate/desert at Serendipity; FAO; etc.
What would you say would be the perfect age for our first girls only trip? Just so you don't think I'm anti boy- DS has gotten tons of "with mommy only" trips, but I didn't take him to NYC until he was 4 because my "boy" list of things to do was different. |

IMO I would take this type of trip when the DC would remember it...so maybe 4. It would be nice to share those memories over the years.

My mom and I did lots of these types trips when I was little - I remember them as early as age 4.
DD and I do special trips now, but only within an hour or two of home. We did a 11+ hour road trip (each way) and that actually was fun. She was soooo excited about the hotel and we snuggled and watched TV and ate snacks in bed. What she remembers now is the elevators and the fact that I let her wear her Halloween cat ears all day and all night ![]() If you plan well and your expectations are reasonable and you have the patience, I say you should do it as soon as you are ready!!! She may not remember every detail, but the experience will be retained and built on for future trips.
